So we gave Jersey (our yellow lab) away to a much better home last week and since then Q has gotten really attached to Dakota. It is actually really sweet. The other day she spent over an hour hugging on her. It even got to the point where Q tole me Dakota didn't like her anymore. When I asked her why, she said that she kept on running away from her and hiding under things...I guess a dog can only handle so much hugs. Anyway, it is really sweet and this is terrible to admit, but in the past week Dakota has probably gotten more attention than she has in the previous 3 years of her life. At least she has stopped howling and crying from her missing Jersey.
Don't get too sad, Jersey now lives with B's cousins who are teenagers and they live on four acres with a pond and swimming pool. The first night they had her they called to tell us she was jumping off the dock and swam for over an hour. She has also returned to being an inside dog and sleeps with Briggs in the bed.
Q's new best friend. Can you tell Dakota is getting a bit tired of the hugs. She has learned that if she whines at the back door P begins to bark at her and Q rushes outside to check on her and give her lovin'. Maybe we are turning over a new leaf in our dog ownership, at least it's for the better.
