Old friends

There isn't much better than getting to spend the afternoon with some old friends from college to celebrate one of our own being pregnant with her first baby. Steph is practicing holding a little girl since that is what she is expecting in July.
What is amazing is that after all of the years gone by, not much has changed in how much fun we have with each other.
Cute kids huh!
There is this one friend who is simply amazing; talented beyond imagination and a servant in both her profession and her attitude. She took some awesome pictures of the Pay. I only wish Q was there to share in our fun. Here are just a few of what she took.
I swear she is having fun!

Mayfield and french fries!

We had our first Mayfield Dairy trip of the year and it was as good as I remember from last year. I think Payter might have eaten more than her sister thanks to Di Di!
To say we all enjoyed it is an understatement!
Now for a mom of the year story. We were at B's softball game the other day and the kids were all playing while the adults were chatting. At one point one of my firends stopped in mid sentence and inquired about what Pay had in her mouth...well this is what is was and she was not giving it up (who would blame her). And for those of you who are wondering what to get the Q for her birthday (in less than a month) this is one of her new wants.

To heck with it...

That's what Pay is saying to baby food. From this picture you can tell. The shirt says it all! Sometimes I wonder if her cheeks hurt due to her incessant smiling. And to think last month I was complaining about her screaming when I walked out of the room. Thanks to our buddies the Lackey's we purchased this seat (yes I know you are asking, "Do I really need another high chair"), and every penny I spend is worth it. I know this isn't a good picture, but they are so pumped to be able to sit next to each other. Q does get a bit frustrated when her sister pulls her place mat and causes her food to spill...we will have to find a solution to that!

Memorial Day '09

We had a great Memorial Day. The Dacula parade was a lot of fun and we topped off or evening with good friends and food. The pictures I got do not do justice to the fun we had, but they were the best I could get withoug getting run over. This is the best picture I got of the kids - oh well. This is how the Q spend about 80% of the parade (I promise she really enjoyed it). The rest was spent with me forcing her to pick up the candy before the bigger kids got it!I don't have a big, fat, blue cavity on my tooth, its the free gum!
There was some good and ugly parts of the parade. Lots of tractors, old cars, free candy, and veterans. This caused tears to flow from Granti; I have to admit that it was pretty awesome.
And not for the ugly, there was a great deal of horse poop and way to much of this guy.Yes, that is a full spandex outfit that left nothing to the imagination. Be glad I didn't get a frontal shot!
Payter and B stayed home from the parade to allow her to sleep and for my awesome husband to clean the house - yup you read that right. Here is the P getting into the holiday spirit.

Memorial Day Preview

This year Q learned the pledge to the flag and the pledge to the Bible at CBS (my awesome woman's bible study). She has been so excited to see all of the American flags hanging around town this weekend. Here she is practicing both of her pledges..

She had to start over because her right hand wasn't on her heart...smart kid!

After all of that practice she did get a bit confused...like all good movies here are her out-takes!

In Payter news she is doing great! She loves standing up and has decided that she no longer likes baby food, so here she is trying broccoli for the first time! The second children - Payter and BeBe!Now if she can only master releasing the food into her mouth once she picks it up!

I never picked cotton...

That's for all of you Johnny Cash fans out there, but we did pick strawberries today. They sure looked good picking those strawberries, though it took us 2 times longer than everyone else to fill up our bucket. After a picnic lunch we got to see the "camels". They were really crazy goats, but for some reason Q insisted they were camels. On another note, Pay is 8 months old today. I can hardly believe it. She is so cute and quite the ham when a camera comes out. She is wearing her farmer overalls for our trip to the strawberry patch. I had to put a comparison picture up of the two girls at this age. To me they look so different, but both beautiful. I will say that though Pay might not be crawling yet like the Q at this age, she is way bigger. This is a 6 month outfit Q has on in this picture and it is skin tight and too short on the Payter. You go girl!

Waiting...

That is what we're doing these days. We took Pay to the doctor yesterday to learn more about her scoliosis. It turns out that she does have infantile scoliosis with a 25degree curve in her back. They consider a person to have scoliosis if they have a curve of 10 degrees or more. Currently with a curve of 25 she is right on the border of treatment or just observation. The doctor said that a lot of the times babies grow out of this, so before we do anything else they have asked us to wait. Wait six more months before we take her back and get another x-ray to measure the change. We are praying for a change to be seen as far as her back becoming straighter because if it gets more curved than we will need to get her an MRI and probably have her casted. Yup, that's right a body cast every 2 months or so to get it back in line. So, we are waiting and trusting in our mighty God that he will allow her back to grow straight. We will wait on his perfect timing and in the meantime we will wont worry (which is so hard for me to do) because it is in the waiting the we have an opportunity to grow closer to the One who crated our Payter, to the One who knows the plans for her life. We are waiting. This is what her back looks like in an x-ray. Pretty crazy huh?
On a different note we got to see family this weekend to celebrate birthdays and B's brother earning his Ph. D (pretty awesome!) from a college I refuse to name on this blog :)! B also got to do a duathalon with his brother; I thought this picture was so cute!It was another day of firsts for Pay as she finally got to ride in the grocery cart with her sister! I don't know which one was more excited!

Big Girl

Now, she didn't get into this position by herself, but she can hold herself up all on her own. This face says it all!One proud big sister. On a side note, I let Q sleep on the floor in Pay's room last night. Well, as soon as I left I heard giggles and laughs and realized Q was looking through the slats on Pay's crib and they were having a ball. I just had to listen on the monitor for about 5 minutes before I had to be a mean mom and break up the party...Pay had to fall asleep in another room until I could reunite them. This morning Q told me that Pop Pop was going to make her bunk beds so she could sleep on the bottom bunk and her sister could sleep on the top bunk. I wonder if they make bunk beds with a crib as the top bunk? Hummmm, I wonder how crafty Pop Pop really is.Concentrating - just like her mama!

Bob...

That's what Q calls her new hair cut. It is so cute and it will be much cooler for the summer. I only wish I had a better before and after shot. The before shot (sorry it's so blurry). Both she and daddy were a bit disappointed he was not going to cut it, but for this new do I wanted a trained professional to do it, sorry B.During the process. It is really hard to make an almost 3 year old keep their head still in that position for more than .2 seconds! There was a good 3 inches of hair in her hand, and to think we just cut her hair a couple months ago. I would never have thought that when she was bald at 1 year her hair would grow this fast.Yes her hair and face (due to a cookie at the grocery store) are already a mess less than an hour after getting it cut, but it's still way cute none the less!We bribed Q with letting her play with Cole if she got her hair cut...now can you see why that one always works?!

Batter up

This weekend I go to run my first race since Pay was born in celebration of my dear friend's mom's 10 year anniversary of being cancer free - go Suzie! Pay got to walk with the group and had a blast as well. Team Suzie Q!Pay got to be the official sign holder! In celebration of a race well done Pay got to have her first taste of chocolate ice cream courtesy of Di Di.!
While we were out running Q and Daddy went on a date consisting of "Waffle Home" as Q calls it, playing at the park, and shopping for a baseball glove and bat. Man those marketing people sure know what they're doing making purple and pink gloves and bats. Mainly they know that Daddies will take their daughters to buy baseball stuff and that they are suckers and will buy whatever their little girls what - you gotta love em'!Q loves her new bat - can you tell? We had to take it with us to Grammy and Pop Pop's house.Spending Mothers Day with Grammy.Daddy taught her how to knock the dirt off her "cleats" - what every good baseball player knows how to do.Check out that concentration. She usually sticks out her tongue like her Mommy!
And finally here is some video of her in action. After watching it you tell me, maybe we need to rethink our bases and spluge for some real ones!
