As I was laying Q down for a nap we had quite an interesting conversation about marriage. What started out as as conversation about school turned into something very different. She was talking about Cole and asked if she could marry him (mind you she is only 3 1/2). I explained to her that he is her cousin and that couldn't happen, so then she asked if she could marry Harris. I said, sure, he was a fine choice. Then she asked if she could marry him today. I then went into an explanation about having to be a grown up like Mommy and Daddy, having to pay bills, clean the house, and so on. To this she said, "But I want to be married like you and Daddy". She said, "I want to be married so I can hold my babies". I guess that's not the worse thing a child could hope for. After this I said that being married means that you have to move out of our house and get a job. When I asked where she would live, she told me "Georgia". Then I questioned what she would do for a job and to that she stated she would stay home with her babies. "Harris will have a job", she told me. " How will you drive a car?", I asked. "Well, Mom, it has to be a little car so I can reach the peddles", she said. I then asked how she would pay for a house and I got a totally 3 year old answer, "Santa will give us one". Luckily Q just happens to be going to Harris' house tonight so I ended the conversation by telling her she needs to talk to Harry's mom about marrying him. Great cop out, but I don't want to squelch my little girls dreams - as long as they don't come true until she is 30 and finished her PhD :).
I love being a mom to precious little girls!
